We found these images after we started thinking about a question posed by “What It Is” alumni, Angela Richardson and Meridith Beck Sayer
When we picture the mind and the brain what do we see? Where do those images come from? What are they based on?
They’re working on a project called “IN THE MIND’S EYE”. about the history of visual representations of brain and the mind. It’s coming to The Image Lab, University of Wisconsin-Madison, during the month of July.
Bohemea, one of the larger/more popular/higher profile blogs on Tumblr was deleted without notice or warning today as a result of a DMCA complaint. Apparently all of this sharing of copyrighted material MUST STOP [bangs fist on desk]. Yeah, because that’s not 90% of Tumblr…
We’re all doomed!
(I’m thinking up a long and authoritative post on how assembling images into digital analogues of old-fashioned scrapbooks IS a form of fair use, but for right now, oh, shit, I have to save my posts and drafts elsewhere)

I find it fascinating how a wonderfully made blog with meticulous citing like bohemea’s was just deleted for content violation, but disgusting, dehumanizing filth like creepshots and other blogs with just as reprehensible content are still up and running, despite the outcry from the Tumblr community. It just goes to show you where Yahoo’s priorities lie.

Women’s Wear Daily reveals that scientific phenomena is inspiring several Fall 2013 Collections. Designer Robert Tagliapietra of label Costello Tagliapietra says he is enamored by “maps, aerial views and topographic lines as tools to develop line and form on the body.”
Perhaps he saw the work of photographer David Maisel, who has made a career of cataloging the frightful beauty of the Earth as seen from above. From top, Oblivian, The Lake Project, and The Mining Project (2).
Can’t wait to see the clothes!
